Homework Assignment #2 Greek and Egypt

When we think of Greek and Roman art, we think of sculpture and architecture and the same thing goes to the Egyptian arts. The difference between them is that the Greek and Roman sculptures show details such as expression on the faces, various organs, and muscle. The Egyptian arts are more likely flat and show no expressions. Also, the Egyptian arts are more religious, the Greek's are more into philosophy.
The statue above is marble statue group of the Three Graces. The Three Graces represents Aglaia (Beauty), Euphrosyne (Mirth), and Thalia (Abundance). This statue symbolize fertility, pleasure, growth, and beauty in arts. Mythology, believed that they were organizing dances to be performed in a festival. As we can see that the sculpture above show every detail from human body and makes it look so real.

Image above is a sculpture of  Hatshepsut, one of the  female pharaoh in the history of ancient Egypt. She was not the only female pharaoh but she was the most important woman to rule the throne of Egypt. As we can see, the Egyptian sculpture is more symmetry, left and right side are the same and does not have expression on the face. This sculpture does not show many detail and is not life alike. It does not show the life movement like the Greek does.
